Welcome to the official site of SGI-USA Oregon Region. We are part of Soka Gakkai International SGI-USA, an American Buddhist association that promotes world peace and individual happiness based on the teachings of the Nichiren school of Mahayana Buddhism. SGI-USA Oregon Region has 2000 members. It is divided into three areas, called Columbia River, Willamette Valley, and Evergreen. Columbia River Area has Central City, Eastside, Southwest Washington, and Mt. Hood Chapters. Central City Chapter includes North Portland, downtown, Northwest Portland, and close-in Northeast Portland. Eastside Chapter is made of districts on the east side of the Willamette River between Powell Road on the south and around Fremont on the north. Mt. Hood Chapter includes East Multnomah County and all the way out the Columbia River Gorge. Southwest Washington Chapter covers Vancouver, Washington, to Kelso/Longview, Washington. Willamette Valley Area includes South, Tualatin Valley, and Salem Chapters. South Chapter is far Southeast Portland through Oregon City, and Southwest Portland through Lake Oswego and West Linn. Tualatin Valley Chapter includes areas west of Soutwest Portland, as far as Forest Grove. Salem Chapter includes Salem and the surrounding area. Evergreen Area is centered in Eugene and includes Corvallis and all points south — as far west as the Pacific, east to Bend, and south to the border of California.
